Just a quiet Boipeba Day
Another quiet day for us, mainly hanging about in our Pousada when not swimming - or rather sitting in the ocean bath tub - and making plans for the next days.
We wanted to do the boat tour around the island again with Aldemir, but he struggled to have a day off, as the restaurant is so busy.
We also wanted to go back to Moreré and Bainema Beach, which needs to be aligned with the low tide for one way, as we need to cross the river.
We checked with Aldemir and he was certain, that he would be off tomorrow, so the plan was clear for tomorrow, we will do the tour again.
For dinner we have still some places on the to-do list. One is Santa Clara and the other is Veranda, the Italian restaurant, which has always queues for tables.
Philippe was so kind to phone Santa Clara and found out that the restaurant was closed due to no water.
Quite a few places on the island do not have water at the moment. We are lucky, that Luar Das Aguas have a their own reservoir and so far we still have water.
Philippe said they will know at 6 pm and that he would phone them again and let us know.
We walked into Velho at 5 pm ish and booked the boats trip on the way. After that we had a look at the arrivals and departures at the pier. It was busy and the Wheel Barrow Taxi drivers were looking for business. We noticed that they have their own association on the island with clear price lists etc and their own "uniform" in form of a T-shirt with the associations name, a wheel barrow and their own name (on the back).
We watched the sun setting at the pier then went to went a coffee at Cheiro da Flor.
In the meantime we got notice from Philippe that Santa Clara will stay closed and we contemplated to try again to get a table at Veranda.
As we were early we were lucky, but the Italian owner told us right away, that they also had no water and thus the menu was limited.
We decided to stay and had a lovely filet mignon and pasta carbonara with a bottle of nice and cold sauvignon blanc from Chile.
The owner was really lovely and looked after us. The food was very tasty!
We had their chocolate cake as desert and had another coffee at Cheira do Flor on the way home.
Blipping the normal street view in Boipeba with a parked mule cart! Love this!
