Good news and bad news

The heating engineer came to service our central heating boiler today.

The good news (particularly in these sub zero temperatures!) is that the central heating is fine and we have a warm house.

The bad news is that the water heater part of the system was declared unsafe because of a slight gas escape and has been switched off so we have no running hot water! A replacement has been ordered but it could be next week before it arrives and can be fitted. However we do have electric showers in both bathrooms so doing without running hot water for a few days will be manageable.

Am feeling very, very grateful that the problem was identified and is being dealt with before something went seriously wrong.
