Picture or palette?

Sometimes, when things are fighting back, the shapes on my palette look better than the painting in hand.  I'm battling with conveying just the right amount of detail, not too much, not too little.  We went for our annual meeting with the accountant this morning, the tax news was not too bad. N baked wheaten bread in the afternoon, whilst I battled more (or less) detail.  That and a bit of live TV from parliament (the most exciting thing on daytime TV) filled the rest of the day.
