A Walk around Dorchester
Paul needed to have his car serviced in Dorchester so after we had dropped it off we took footpaths we have never explored so close to the town. I love finding new pathways and this was perfect . We walked by the River Frome and came across this pretty little bridge . Lots of streams and tributaries confluence there . We then struck out across the fields to Fordington where Paul had lived at one time when his Dad was the publican at the Bulls Head .
We detoured into the church there which has a Norman doorway and a Roman headstone which was excavated in the porch .Passing some bronze statues we discovered they were by the artist Elizabeth Fink remembering those who died on the Gallows there . We also found time to visit the Roman Villa remains which we had never seen .
It’s amazing what’s on your doorstep when you look !
