Jill of All Trades

Quilter, knitter, baker extraordinaire: our friend W is also an upholstery whiz and agreed to repair the damage that the cats inflicted on our couch. She arrived with an array of tools, including a compressor to run her staple gun. I love the juxtaposition of her manicured, ringed fingers and the loud heavy machine. It was fascinating to see how she carefully proceeded to take the couch apart, staple by staple, and then watch how she decided to put it all back together with fresh fabric. A little push, a little pull, some extra padding, and one side was transformed. Next week she'll come back to finish the other side. No more bits of foam rubber and shredded fabric, at least for awhile.
