Ten days in

Almost all “Edinburgh’s Christmas” has now collapsed onto lorries to be dragged away to be stored for 10 months. Ice rink, big wheel, chairoplane, Santa’s train and countless Gluhwein and trinket booths are slinking out of town with their tills groaning under the weight of all that tourist spending over Christmas and Hogmanay.

I had a volunteer night shift followed by business calls and a short run to catch the bus into town for more meetings.

City of Edinburgh Council, however, are blissfully unaware of the date and all their lamppost Xmas lights are twinkling on regardless. Maybe they intend to follow the Polish example and keep them on until Candlemas on 2nd February?

It is refreshing however to see familiar landmarks untruckled by all the tinsilitis.
