Busy day in the garden today at the feeders.
There were lots of goldfinches once again in the garden this morning and throughout the day.
More in the rowan tree.
I watched a flock of jackdaws when I was up in the loft bedroom. I was fascinated with the way they were making figures of eight as they whirled up as if on thermals.
I have only ever seen one murmuration of starlings and I was very excited at the time! It was so beautiful and unexpected as we were coming home from Bristol on the M5.
Good job hubby was driving! He wondered what on earth I could see. These jackdaws were making a similar pattern but in wider loops.
I looked it up and they do gather together in the winter.
Fascinating as to why they make the swirling patterns.
The extra is of our garden blackbird. It is his patch and the two photos in extras show him giving a pugnacious sparrow a hard stare before giving in and sharing the bird bath!
Earlier blip this evening as we are having some people round for a games night.
Off to Bristol once more in the morning to collect another load to bring back here to store whilst our son and his wife have their loft conversion to give them more space for their expanding family!
