Vertical Puddles

Sometimes we try too hard.

I spent most of the day in a video studio today and was struggling to find something interesting to take a photo of but eventually came up with three or four likely candidates. Fast-forward to the evening and one of my friends was intrigued by the pancake so decided to try taking a photo with it. Since he was only used to cameraphones though it didn't occur to him that a dim room needs either flash, a long shutter speed or something else to compensate for the lack of light. So he tried taking a photo then handed the camera back. It was only when I was putting the lenscap back on that I heard the ka-chunk of the shutter closing and realised what had happened. The galling thing was that passing the camera to me while the shutter was open and pointed in the general direction of the Christmas tree lights produced something far more interesting than any of my deliberate efforts. Pooh!
