Yellow's always first

Does anyone know if there's a reason why yellow flowers are the first to appear? Forsythia will be next, I think. Then daffodils a while later, but dandelions are never far behind.

Anyway, it's always good to see these tiny bursts of flowery sunshine in the middle of winter!
