Hawk Fight

I was watching this red tail hawk through a 300mm lens when another swooped into the frame and a Top Gun skirmish broke out. Both birds locked wings and spun with talons clawing at each other as they dropped out of the sky. (EXTRA)  Before hitting the ground they separated and spun in different directions in wild arial maneuvers. I'm guessing, but I think they were fighting over a hunting area.  The hill they were zooming over is full of rabbits and ground squirrels. It wasn't a play date.
