Man to Man
Combined a bit of exercise with a stroll around one of the local parks in search of this new sculpture which is not in my big book of sculptures as it was only unveiled late in 2018. This is a rather delightful statue of Frank Foley who died in Stourbridge in 1958.
Major Francis Edward Foley CMG (24 November 1884, Highbridge, Somerset – 8 May 1958, Stourbridge, Worcestershire) was a British Secret Intelligence Service officer. As a passport control officer for the British embassy in Berlin, Foley "bent the rules" and helped thousands of Jewish families escape from Nazi Germany after Kristallnacht and before the outbreak of the Second World War.[1] He is officially recognised as a British Hero of the Holocaust."
A hero. Two heroes together as far as I am concerned on this bench today.
