'Gone Swimming'

Johanna got us in to watch Ruby today, she was doing exercises in the Hydrotherapy pool at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
There are other children too but only 2 others in Ruby's class today.
A great blip would have been Marlanes horrified face when Ruby was submerged and released to bob up to the surface, I thought she was going to jump in to save her!!! She was very safe though as Luke, her father, was in there with her and his hands were very close around her waist but not actually holding her until she bobbed up. He then gathered her up and she got a big cuddle.
Before they go underwater the parent says the childs name, the child looks at them at which point the parent blows in their face to make them take a big breath and down they go.
It's amazing to see and it's all about building up their ability with water, exercising limbs, eventually learning to swim but before that learning to turn onto their backs so they will just float without panic.
Marvellous to watch.
And the blue booties? Of course, they are protection against any dirt etc. on outdoor shoes so it isn't taken into the poolside. We aren't allowed to take photographs of the actual event as there are other babies and parents in the pool with them.
