Artstation toi tu, 1 Ponsonby Road

Another view for the One Street project.

Artstation is housed in this historic building at Nø 1 Ponsonby Road; the former Grey Lynn Police Barracks. The Auckland Star newspaper noted on 07 August 1905 that a tender had been accepted for the construction of the building. The full notice read:

The Public Works Department has received the following tenders for the erection of police barracks in Grey Lynn: Accepted, Ferguson and Malcolm (Auckland) Pds 3927. Declined: E. Morris, Pds 3957; R. Kay, Pds 3992; Guthrie, Pds 4145; C. Frankham Pds 4240

If you look at this large, you will see the letters ER at the top of the central section. Not Elizabeth Regina, although she has been around a fair while now. No. This stands for Edvardus Rex; King Edward VII.
