The path to Linhope Spout
So much for a working weekend!
Plans for a short local walk in the afternoon turned into a very enjoyable half-day trip up to Linhope Spout, a waterfall which lands in a plunge pool. We battled against a fierce wind to get there, and were blown down the hill on the way back. Not a long walk, just over 3 miles in total, but takes you up into the Cheviot Hills. As we arrived a young man had just emerged from a dip in the 'bottomless pool'. It may be very mild for the time of year, but it's far too cold for us to contemplate following his example - apparently the water was "icy"! Instead we walked a little way down the stream and sat on the rocks for a snack and hot coffee (extra).
