They are big up close

We're going to spend time with my family this Christmas so we had to take the ferry to Blighty this morning. While we waited to be allowed off I took this picture of the MV Mont St Michel next to us in Portsmouth, at 36 000 GT it's rather a large piece of kit.

We got on a later train than we had hoped but even so our friends met us at the station and we arrived at the village in one piece. In the afternoon we went into town for last minute shopping (surprisingly quiet) and then back to our friends for dinner and an overnight stay. In the morning we go back into town to collect the rental car and then drive up north to my father's house.
