A Golf Course (with no golfers)
Another dawn without any warm sunrise glow. It seems that later in the week we can expect something better, albeit a lot colder.
I walked back from the garage after dropping the car off. It's about 3 miles and so made sure I ticked off my active minutes for the day. I took a detour over a recently constructed golf course. By now I expected to see golfers using the course. It is in great condition, the fairway grass is lush, greens pristine but to date no indication has been given as to when it might open. I was told last year that the owners were trying to sell the course. It seems a crying shame that such a well presented course is lying empty except for dog walkers and the occasional grass cutter.
In another place the UK Government was consigned to the biggest defeat on a motion in history. It reminds me of a quote, purportedly based on an old Chinese curse, 'May you live in interesting times.' While it might appear to be a blessing, I think they got it spot on as a curse although no reference to the quote has ever been found in Chinese culture. I have a feeling that interesting times will continue for some time.
