King George III
Back to work, if still a little under par. I managed to snap a photo of one of the new costumes, made by the ‘seamstress’ member of our team. King George III visited LC in 1778 and will be in our new workshop, Monarchy and More. Rehearsals are going well.
Last week Mr L and I received a special invite - to a renewal of wedding vows. The invitation came from a former foster child. We looked after her for a few weeks only pre adoption some 25 years ago, and have never met since, although we message and follow each other on social media. A few years ago, preparing for her wedding her parents told her they had lost her birth certificate, so she applied for a copy. It was at this point she discovered she was adopted. She began a search for her natural parents and in so doing also found the letter I had left on her file should she ever look. Her adoptive parents rejected her because she was searching for natural parents, and when she found the natural parents, they too rejected her (again). Not all adoptions are happy ever after! This prompted her to write to us, mainly to simply thank us for having looked after her and to ask if we had any photos of her as a baby. Of course I did! She was thrilled to have them, never having seen photos of herself at such a young age. It clearly means something to her for us to be there, so we have said we will go. It will be quite odd, not knowing a single person, not even the happy couple, but I know she has two gorgeous boys now and look forward to meeting her ‘now’ family.
This evening the Brexit deal has been rejected. I remember living through various strange political times, but this all has me beat! Mr L is quite obsessed with it all and so we watched the politics channel, and I have to say that if any of my children behaved the way the politicians were in the House this evening, interrupting, booing etc they would have gone to bed without any supper!
