No watering

I don't have to water this amaryllis! The big bulb is encased in a thick layer of green wax, and there is a wire frame underneath to hold it steady. and it has needed no watering. The two stems had tight buds when I bought it but now there are three flowers on each. Amaryllis are always entertaining, but this one has been remarkable.
Dull damp day, but not cold, and the forecast rain was just a miserable drizzle. WI meeting tonight will cheer things up, I'm sure.
