New Snow

Finally we had our long-awaited snowfall. Overnight around 20 cm fell on the whole area. It was so beautiful this morning when we opened the curtains  and everything looked clean, white and soft.
Of course, the ice was still there under the snow, with the added excitement that you could no longer see where the path was gritted. During the day we went for a walk, then I dug out the path to the cars, the cellar, and to Jan's studio. Then we dug out the cars themselves. All-in-all 4 hours or so of pleasant exercise. It's so much easier when you have time to take a breather and no deadline to keep. It was around -11°C but it was no problem keeping warm.
Looking up from the clearing of snow, towards the horizon, each layer of forest is picked out by the new snow. The treeless areas near the skyline show where the forest fire burned last summer.  Those long hot days seem an age away...
Yesterday I blipped as usual (the bike on the lake) but something weird happened and the picture never came into the "following" group, though it was there in "Me".  However, today everything is working as it should :-).
