2014 more running needed

24/7

Everything these days is so "full on 24/7" and this was highlighted to me today when a student lost their mobile phone.
There was no way I was getting anything out of any of the group until the device was found :)
With normal service resumed (phone found) we had an interesting discussuiob about "The olden days" when we had no mobile phones.

"How did you keep in touch with your friends?"
We walked, got the bus or cycled

"But what about nights out?
We planned in advance

And so it went on.....

To close I gave a few examples of how life used to be: (are you old enough to remember, or young enough to be amazed??????)

We played out on our bikes with our friends until it got dark without our parents checking up on us.

We got off the chair to change channel on the TV (that baffled a few!)

We didn't have mobile phones.

We made reverse charges calls when we had no money to phone home.

We used phone boxes to make those calls

If we needed fuel in our cars, it was served to us (no self service)

We went out for a whole evening for £5. Special occassions needed £10 just in case.

The list could go on.........

Have a great weekend. I'm off to Whitby tomorrow (weather and referee permitting)
