The body in the wood pile
As far as I know there isn't one.
But searchers for a hypothetical missing person, possibly a murder victim, who was last sighted heading for these woods some months ago, would be well advised to call in the sniffer dogs right here.
Because any sharp-eyed mycologist (and is there any other kind?) could instantly spot that some time back this log was rolled about 45 degrees in a clockwise direction.
The clue is in the bracket fungi, especially the two on the right. These fungi always grow in a horizontal plane like shelves. The lower one was growing horizontally until the angle of the log changed. The upper, newer, bracket has adapted its growth to the altered plane. Same with the ones on the left. (The phenomenon is known as geotropism)
I'm sure that Sherlock Holmes would have clocked this instantly. He'd probably have pocketed a few magic mushrooms on the way.
