The old Flett and Sons, this building is now the home of Voluntary Action Orkney.

If you stand at the top of the stairs and look down you can just imagine the way it used to be. Much darker. No red carpet. It had high, wooden counters downstairs and the walls were lined with floor to ceiling wooden shelves. I imagine it a bit like Shearers today - whatever you were looking for, you'd only need to ask and it would be found on one of those shelves!
