leaving on a jet plane...

I first started reconciliation work in the mid 1970's and if I learnt anything, it is that peacebuilding is a journey, not a destination and that its results can only be measured over decades not days. It has mountain peak moments and dark valley times.
It is hard to know whether our visit will add anything to the ideas and approach to our colleagues in Kosovo. What I do know is that we shared a few hours together reflecting on a common goal that joins us across the miles - that prejudice and violence demeans us all and that our role is to work for peace, shining small shafts of light into dark places. If that means challenging government - then that too is necessary but can be costly particularly in some areas of our world.
So farewell my friends and keep the faith!
