Carols
Today we went into town to the carol concert in the Cathedral in town. I thought it was odd to have a carol concert after Christmas, but I'm a guest here so what do I know...!
We left a little later than planned so had to walk very briskly there and we only managed to get to sit on the stone steps at the back as all the real seats were fully occupied. There were a few instrumentals and quite a few songs by the choir that I recognised, including two in English!
The Cathedral like everything else in the walled city isn't very old it was only finished the in the 70s, the American's having levelled the city in the erroneous belief that the Nazis we dug in. At it happens there wasn't a significant military force in the city, but the time anyone realised, there wasn't much left of the two. They started rebuilding in the 50s and the top of the spire of the Cathedral was one of the last bits to be completed. Looking at it now you'd think it was your typical medieval job, but it's not at all.
Sadly people forget how easy it is to stir up hatred and start wars, at the end of the year, let us hope that sanity and peace breaks out next year...
