Lichen
A cold but beautiful sunny day. I felt inspired to attack the field hedge; I've largely cleared the ivy from it but it is now time to thin it out and reduce the height. When we moved here over 20 years ago it was a normal hedge but neither the farmer nor the ladies who rent the field for their horses have ever cut it back so it became very tall and overgrown, and started blocking our light. I can only attack it when the birds aren't nesting so now is the perfect time, and one bonus is that all the shredded wood that I cut out has now formed a good mulch on the front garden. Quite a lot of lichen on some of the older wood; I took a shot of some of it before it went into the shredder.
