Keyhaven
A brief stopover at Keyhaven before we head north. A great spot.
After all the rain yesterday, a surprise to find the weather so calm and, well ..... sunny. Although bitterly cold. Well wrapped up.
Lots of dark bellied brent geese, here to spend the winter before migrating back to Arctic Russia to breed in the spring. A southern goose in England. Also wigeon, shelduck, curlew, oystercatchers, rock pipit, stonechat, and reed buntings.
And perched on the yacht on the left in this shot, either side of the mast, those two blurs are two peregrine falcons, assessing what is likely to be available for Sunday lunch.
Our stopover was brief, just taking in a walk along the foreshore and half way along Hurst Spit, it is a long journey home. We arrived back to a very impressive full moon. Lots of people will be up very early in the morning to see the lunar eclipse. I will not be amongst them.
