Redcoat Damselfly

I saw two damselflies in my garden today. This gorgeous redcoat, Xanthocnemis zealandica, and a larger blue damselfly, Austrolestes colensonis (see extra shot). The blue looked very dark, but apparently they have the ability to darken themselves to absorb more warmth. Both are New Zealand natives.
