Unity

In a compromise, I left out the photo of the pint of dark brown wheat beer in order not to have shown the plain green leaf salad that would have spoilt my colour scheme.

It looks pretty disgusting but tasted great - pork and mushroom pie with a shortcrust topping and gratin dauphinoise, followed by a fresh apple and a small amount of mincemeat strudel. The strudel and topping would have looked better with an egg wash brushing but no eggs available.

I did make a serious mistake which has led me to not showing the whole pie with topping. I turned on the oven on a fairly high setting and put the potatoes at the very bottom while I finished off the meat & mushroom pie and prepared the strudel.

Then popped in the pie at the top of the oven. It wasn't long before I smelt things were going quickly but I didn't bother to look. Wasn't long before I realised I had to take a peek. The idiot had not put the oven on upper and lower heat but simply on grill!

Was able to sort it and when all done, the very dark pie topping still tasted very good! Strudel luckily didn't suffer the same fate.

No prizes for colour, the "gravy" in the pie was a somewhat adapted sauce based on a poultry and vegetable fond that I had been planning to make into a soup. Hence the glossy texture. Healthy at least.

When I start bliping food, you know something isn't right and I am scraping the barrel. I have seen too many unbelievable things from the UK in the last week that I simply cannot believe are still being thrown about willy nilly and not being challenged by anyone, not even after they have been shown to be outrageous lies way back in 2015/6.

Nobody or anything can save the UK from hell and it will get far badly burnt than my topping. I'm sorry to see the UK return to the 60's days of overcooked Brussel Sprouts and disgusting food which was known the whole world over as being the very worst there was to be had.

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, Adieu .............
