An elephant at Waterloo

At the top of the escalators leading to the tube at Waterloo Station is this elephant. Why? Because it was part of “Art on the Underground” and bought and moved to Waterloo Station because nearby was the site of Astley’s Amphitheatre, credited as the first ring circus. In 1773.
If not for Blip I would never have looked that up, and yet I pass this elephant numerous times a week with hundreds of thousands other commuters.
