Hand Reared

My granddaughter has a great affinity with birds. This little lorikeet, found by a friend and unable to fly, was given to her 48 hours ago. Already it is trusting and tame, and she hopes to keep it as a pet. Here, the lorikeet is being introduced to the family dog, who was very nervous of the bird. I am not sure about the ethics of keeping a wild bird, but I understand it is not uncommon in Australia... hopefully it will have a happy and healthy life.
