A Blanket of White

Dear Diary,

On closer inspection, it seems we got about 10 inches of new snow that intermittently had mixed with some sleet which probably kept the total down.  It also gave the snow cover a dimpled look that I found quite lovely.  I like the way it tucks in my Rose of Sharon which is still sporting some of last years dried flowers.

I also had a sweet new visitor to Auntie's tree last night, a little Saw-whet Owl. (Extra)  They come to Maine from Canada to spend the winter each year.  It is the first one I've seen.  What a joy!  I had to use a flashlight to illuminate it but it didn't seem to care.  Not the best photo but it will do.
