Hooded Mergansers

I had to go to Gaithersburg this afternoon and found myself with a small window of time, and proximity to Clopper Lake so I stopped by.  I was surprised to see an abundance of these very small diving ducks near the shore.  I tried to get a little closer and of course, they all turned and swam away.  I stayed still and watched as they were too far away to get a good shot and then these two started to swim back and I got a few shots.  It was very cold, but the sun was shining and felt sooooo good.  For a view of the lake, see my B&W journal here.
