as heard on Strictly - too many steps!

...I seem to have accidentally fallen into blipping a Purbeck Coast series!

Today was not only another beautifully sunny day, it was also pleasantly warm in the almost breezeless air. We have a series of circular walks, which, between them, encompass the whole Purbeck coast from Poole Harbour to Weymouth. This morning, we did the one that starts and finishes in Worth Matravers. The coast path is reached at Winspit and then followed up over St Aldhelm's Head to Chapman's Pool and back over the field paths to Worth.

Between St Aldhelm's Head and Chapman's Pool, the path descends and reascends a short but surprisingly deep and steep-sided valley. Walkers of the coast path can often be seen arriving at the top of the steps with looks of sudden exhaustion appearing on their faces.

My image is taken from near the steps that descend on the St Aldhelm's Head side, which are a near mirror of the steps that you can see heading up, dead straight, on the left of the green field opposite. What most people don't know is that it is possible to get down to the lovely beach just below where I was standing, and walk along the rocks to the boathouse at Chapman's Pool. Beyond Chapman's Pool, you can see the gable like cliffs of Houns-tout with the tiny little cove of Egmont Bight to its left. Beyond the following headland is Kimmeridge Bay and the scene of yesterday's blip...
