A bit of a "marmite" one this.

If you thought you'd be able to chill to "Albatross" or dance like no-one's watching to "Tusk", think again. Neither of them are on it, but what is quite fascinating/infuriating is that there are outakes and retakes (up to 6) for some of the tracks, plus an odd tapping noise.  It wasn't until I read the sleeve notes from Mike Vernon, the producer, that I realised what was going on: 

"The barrage of assorted guitar intros.....serves to illustrate the dubious gamesmanship employed by some musicians to upset the producer in times of stress."

By "some musicians" he means Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer!


"My irriation at the insistence of both guitarists to make this unholy racket is indicated by the tapping of my finger many times on the talk back microphone in a vain attempt to get them to pay attention......"
