Alarcón, Cuenca Province

We’ve driven inland today, to Cuenca Province......and we’re staying in the Parador in Alarcón.
It is an excellently restored 11th century castle, with a Tower...within a meander of the Jucar River....which has been converted into a hotel with 28 rooms
The castle was a key military base, and was recaptured from the Moors by Alfonso VIII in 1184
The views from the top of the Tower are stunning!

I received the gift voucher for our stay, as a 70th Birthday gift, last May......finding a “ good time “ to use the voucher hasn’t been easy.....but mid week in January seems just perfect!
