The plant is an annual, a member of the potato family and native to South America.

To those of you who commented on the colour - I’m not sure how intense the colour was on your computer screen as it was vastly different when I checked it on my husband’s laptop screen. The water colour is amazing at the moment, but not quite as over-the-top as it appeared on his computer!
