Arches.

I was right on the edge of a squelchy coast path so was more concerned with a sudden and fatal loss of height rather than the niceties of composition, horizon etc. The modern bridge is just over thirty years old compared to the fourteenth century bridge with its different width arches for fat or thin boats. I wonder if they would try to get through arches which were too tight, a bit like buying jeans a size too small! I'm not sure if there was a toll which depended on the size of the arch, but I could just be imagining that.
