Between fen and mountains

Partially disassembled

It was a little busier than usual in the café this morning. I received a call that there was a long case clock to collect so after a quick lunch I drove out towards Sleaford. Back home, I disassembled the mechanism for cleaning but before I got it all in pieces, I thought it would be nice to pay my respects to the craftsmanship of an 18th century clockmaker. On the front plate you can still see the circular scribing marks for the layout of the wheels and the file marks on the count wheel where grooves have been cut in the rim at progressive intervals for the hour striking from one to twelve.
