Skipped over the border

to Skipton today.....we were there briefly last summer to catch the Dalesman train on our Carlisle to Settle trip and promised ourselves we would go back another day, to have a proper visit. Today was that day.

We missed third place in the quiz last night by two points......we didnt sleep particularly well either, but we had made plans so off we went.
Left home in the rain, but as we headed east, as forecast, it did dry up, although the day was damp, we didnt get wet :-)

We explored the town, so many lovely little tea shops and cafes to choose from! We called into a shop that I fancied...and yes, I did buy a casual dress with a matching scarf, in the currently trendy "mustard" colour....not sure hub was convinced, but I really liked it ;-)

We went to a recommended cafe for lunch, had a BLT bagel and a coffee, both were sooo nice! Hub had a slice of cake too, but I resisted!

We browsed the market in the high street, walked up to the big church at the top ( see extra) and then on to the castle, but decided that was something to explore on a warmer day, when we visit next time.

Todays blip is a view from the bridge near the bus station over the Leeds Liverpool Canal, which I like, as it is typical of Skipton, and rather quaint.

A pretty easy drive back, getting home just on 5, not so busy as we expected for a Friday teatime, thankfully!!
