Early, early rhody

This rhody is round the corner from where I live, but I don't remember it flowering this early before. It's a large rhody, so not one which has appeared since last year. It's probably been flowering at this time of year for years and I've never noticed it before. My life is full of things like that.

I went to see "Mary Queen of Scots" at the Filmhouse which was not the best film to cheer you up. Saoirse Ronan gave a splendidly feisty performance as Mary, but of course you knew how things were going to turn out for her. Scotland was unremittingly dreich and muddy. I should have sought out Mary Poppins instead.
