Horror Filums
My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,
I started today watching a Boris Karloff film called "The Haunted Strangler". It was quite good. It was the story of a writer (Karloff) investigating the case of a man wrongly executed for being a serial killer only to find the ACTUAL serial killer was -
- HIS OWN SPLIT PERSONALITY!
Well it didn't come as much of a surprise to me. This is Boris Karloff, after all. As soon as they strapped a bow tie on him and made him a writer I suspected malarkey.
Oh. Spoiler alert, by the way.
I think people wonder why I like horror films. Not everyone gets it, including Caro. My answer was provided later in the day when we watched Vice, the Christian Bale movie. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Sam Rockwell and Steve Carrell are all great.
Still, when the film was over I felt deflated. Depressed. Miserable and lacking in hope. Cheney, Rumsfeld & Bush did what they did - made a lot of money - and got away with it. There is no happy ending or comeuppance. Vice is written and directed by the same bloke who made The Big Short. Which had a similar ending and also left me miserable.
I suppose what I am trying to say is that it is much easier to handle demonic children spouting Latin or masked killers that refuse to die or lanky-haired Japanese ghosts than real-life everyday @rseholes. At least vampires get a stake through the heart in the end.
Moving swiftly on to things that make me happy: cats in sunbeams and birds on the balcony. See extra.
S.
