Burns Night Dinner
Transvaal Scottish Regiment style.
All in our glad rags at the second oldest remaining building in Joburg which gave some insight into days of old with some of the old traditions remaining.
Drinks at the bar followed by sherry in the anteroom. Dinner of tattie scone with smoked salmon and cream cheese, haggis neeps and tatties. Nothing wrong with that you might think. But next was a full lamb roast followed by tipsy laird and finally atholl brose. The port was then passed round and this with a much stronger constitution than us retired to the library for some malts.
Spike addressed the haggis with a anglicized version of the bards work which was interesting given that he is a Dutchman but then again we would not have understood a version in Afrikaans so no criticism from us.
I need a very long lie down.
