Tabbing

Whilst in the Black Mountains with some pretty special people, I learnt a new word this week. Tabbing. It's a rapid march over distance carrying weight. This is a core military skill in many countries.  The British Army call this 'Tab' or 'Tabbing'. The Royal Marines call it a 'Yomp'. American soldiers and marines call it 'Slogs' or 'Humps'.

I also learnt how to walk properly in such difficult terrain too and it really made a difference when going up and down very steep parts. This is known by some as the 'marine shuffle'.

The warm shower afterwards and a beer was most welcomed!
