'Puffin Billy'
as we used to call steam trains in years gone by. This is the Penzance to Thurso express passing through Muir of Ord this morning. Well maybe express is the wrong word as it has taken almost a week to get here but I'm sure the 300 passengers on board have enjoyed the experience.
On the final leg of the journey the eight passenger coaches were pulled by a former London Midland and Scottish Railway 8F class 2-8-0 heavy freight locomotive. After completing the north bound journey passengers will return to Aviemore where a diesel locomotive will continue the journey to London.
