Metropolitan Museum Lobby

Today in NYC was a museum day: The Morgan Library (above all exquisite drawings from Munich), then the ICP (International Center of Photography), with an all-encompassing exhibit on apartheid in South Africa from 1948--when it began--until about 1995, a few years after Nelson Mandela was released from 27 (?) years of prison.

Then finally to the Met, where I took this, from the balcony overlooking the lobby, where on weekends music is played and drinks and food are served. (A reverse view of the hall at night is here). Exhibitions included the American painter George Bellows and Matisse (on his habit of repeating and repeating compositions--wonderful). Then after a superb restaurant meal we returned to our friends and met the couple who had come for dinner; wonderful conversation as I worked on my blip around the table.

The first time in ages that I've posted after midnight.

Next morning: I've put in some links above. Year ago: Birding in Florida.
