Nottingham
SUNDAY
I was out of the door at sunrise this morning for a 5 mile run over Norland Moor in strong winds and sub-zero temperatures. Once out on the top of the moor I soon began to regret running in shorts.
A drive down to Nottingham for a few days away. Staying at Colwick Hall Hotel (extra) which is close to the racecourse and parkland at the side of the River Trent.
A 7 km walk this afternoon through the parkland (extra) which was teeming with bird life. As the sun was setting, we passed the Holme Sluices (main blip) which are part of the local flood defence scheme. The structure, with 5m high steel gates, was opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in May 1955.
Looking forward to dinner with Harriet and George this evening.
