Ice Feathers Under Foot
There is no accounting for the way water reacts when it gets very cold. Walking across the frozen lake this afternoon (at minus 18C!) I was smitten by these tiny ice feathers under my feet. Somehow or other the sun must have melted a thin layer of snow which then froze very quickly. I would have spent a long tome examining their many varied forms but it was perishing cold!
