Heritage
There's a very old coachworks in a lane around the corner from our house. I don't often walk down that way but today I did and with the Blip Radar on alert I wandered in and spent a really interesting twenty minutes or so with the owner. He took the place on from his Dad in 1962 and they used to be the coachworks for the National Fire Service - hence the sign above the doors, which is attached with concrete so is only coming down when the wall does.
The old fire station is now an art gallery which is next door to our house so I knew that part of the story but he told me a few fascinating stories I didn't know about the local fire service and some of the major scrapes they got into. He also had an old horse drawn fire carriage in there.
So, part museum, part functioning coachworks though it's regular cars he looks at now - which can't be anywhere near as much fun.
In my ongoing half-arsed attempt to become a better photographer I have broken the habit of a lifetime and done some contrast/brightness sliding around with this to see what it did and this is the result. I quite like it so maybe this is the start of me climbing up the photoshop mountain. We'll see.
