Seed Pod?

In Brisbane at my daughters house I noticed this unusual seed pod? on a Golden Cane palm tree, it's quite different to the others on the tree and I've not seen one the same even though we also have a Golden Cane in our garden. Ours has the same as the other type that is on her tree??
