The Church of St John the Evangelist, Rothwell

This can be seen with it's beautiful tall spire from the walk down the park that we usually do every Tuesday with Molly when we go shopping to Morrisons in Rothwell.

Its an early Gothic Revival Church first consecrated in Dec 1829 by the Archbishop of York.   Unfortunately in Nov 2014 thieves stole the lead from the roof resulting in massive water damage which cause the church to be unusable, but the Heritage Lottery Fund has come to the rescue and now the roof is fixed and the church nicely dried out.

Another bitterly cold day with rain this afternoon and a forecast of frost tonight.
